‘ Gala de reina’
Since 26th of January the carnival in the capital of gran canaria took
his start in the hearth of the centre.
With every night on the main stage a different show competition.
The theme this year is television, this all became clear last Friday
the 5th of February during the opening of one of the biggest shows of
the carnival ’ gala reina’ For the non Spanish speaker this
means the queen carnivals election. The ticket sale for the huge show
went fast, and with a 10 000 people in the arena around a incredible stage
the atmosphere was amazing.
The opening which took at least a 30 minutes was absolute a stunning
performance with dancing, acting, glitter and glamour. The explanation
(interpretation) of television over the years, the appearing of many formal
queen carnivals started at 1976 was like every other year a great opening
of this huge event.
The 9 candidates which participated in the show where sponsored by restaurants,
shopping centres and all of them had a different and unique designer for
the costumes. The queen carnival elections in Las Palmas have absolutely
nothing to do with a simple dress, The dresses are build up like little
mini stages on wheals. Every single candidate needed to
take care of those incredible huge dresses, and each and one of them where
unique, stunning and spectacular … a must see. The reason why this
special night is so popular becomes clear when you went there ones.
Between the queens some other shows were taking care of the crowds entertainment.
Clowns singing, different groups of people who won the elections of the
nights before and a lot of samba dancing in between along some famous
artistes where filling up the time between the votes of this 2.5/3 hours
show.
The winner this year was our favourite as well. Centro commecial ‘
El Muelle ‘ in las palmas was the sponsor of candidate number 9.
Mame Yame Mattallah Moustapha was carrying a creating of designer Willy
Diaz and took the title of ‘Reina del carnival 2010’ .Next
month another carnivals queen 2010 election is coming up in the south.
This years theme of carnival maspalomas will be ‘ Eurovision’
we can’t wait to see the interpretations of those who taking care
of the stage and the candidates of the election nights in the yumbo centre.
